Paris: Arc de Triomphe

Located Place de l'Etoile, the heart of the 8th arrondissement of Paris, the Arc de Triomphe monument is located at the end of the Champs-Elysées. Her measurements are: 55 meters high, 45 meters wide and 22 meters deep. The Arc de Triomphe was built at the initiative of the first Napoleon to honor his victorious troops at Austerlitz in 1806, Napoleon appealed to architects and Raymond Chalgrin but only the first one actually ends up working on the project. In 1810, the site has started, but not quite to the taste of leadership. On the occasion of the marriage of Archduchess Marie Louise, Napoleon decided to reproduce a wooden model and full size canvas to hide the delay. And worse, since 1812, after the defeat of Napolean in Russia, the project is simply dropped. It was not until 1832 and the first Louis Philippe for the construction of the Arc de Triomphe back to life. And that's in July 1836, the building was inaugurated.

The Arc de Triomphe is now one of the monuments of Paris the most popular with tourists from all over the world to visit the highest point of the Champs-Elysées.
